Fr. Matthias Lusembo was born on October 4, 1953, at Lugonza, Uganda the son of his late parents Joseph Sseruwu and Costantia Nakalima.
Fr. Matthias attended the following schools:
• Nazarenth and Mbale Primary Schools
• Bukalasa Minor Seminary (high school)
• Katigondo Nat. Major Seminary (Uganda) for Philosophy
• Urban University Rome for Theology and
• Gregorian University Rome, for PhD Soc. Sciences.
Fr. Matthias was ordained a deacon in the Diocese of Fulda, Germany in 1980 and a priest at Masaka, in Uganda on January 18, 1981.
From January 1981 to Jan. 1982, Fr. Matthias served as associate pastor at Makond Parish, Masaka Diocese, Uganda. Thereafter, Fr. Matthias taught Philosophy and Social Sciences at Katigond N.M. Seminary for twenty one years, during which he also served as Vice Rector for 8 years and then as Rector of the same Seminary for 9 years. At the same time, Fr. Matthias was a member of his Bishop’s Board of Consultors, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Education, Masaka Diocese, and director of Mbuye Farms School (www.mbueye.net) which he initiated in 1987 (now having 833 students). Since 2008, Fr. Matthias has served as a missionary here in United States.
